Corse Picks the Hits:
Riding A Bike
With Lou Del Bianco

We recently caught up with children's singer songwriter Lou Del Bianco at his home in Portchester, New York. We told him we were looking for songs about self-esteem and perseverance. He told us we had come to the right place!

You see, Lou loves to write and sing songs about kids. It's a subject he knows well, because he used to be one! Many of his wonderful songs explore funny situations that happen to all of us at some time or another. Check out this verse from "A Little Bit Clumsy", the title track of his third album:

I'm a little bit clumsy, I'm a little bit (Ow, I hit my nose!) I'm kinda thumbsy, sometimes my fingers act like toes. If you want something carried, you don't want me around. Whatever you plan to put in my hands - ends up on the ground!

We bet Baldy the Beetlebaum could relate to that tune! Another cut on the album talks about the hard work it takes to learn how to ride a bike. The 9-year old narrator is frustrated, because everyone in his class can ride a bike except him! Even his 5-year old sister zips past him!

But he keeps on trying. Over and over he says to himself, "Round and round - Don't fall down! Round and round - Don't fall down!" Unfortunately, each attempt ends the same way: "Oh, no --- scared ... wobble ... plop!" In his head, he imagines himself at 40 years old and then even later in life, still not riding a bike. Finally, with great perseverance, he succeeds. "Oh, no --- scared ... wobble ... wobble ... pedal ... pedal ... ride ... ride ... ride ... I did it!!!!"
